Koinos is a faith community app built to help people explore, question, and grow in their relationship with God — together. We take your privacy as seriously as we take that mission. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account and use Koinos, we may collect:

• Your name and email address (for account creation via Firebase Auth)
• Profile information you choose to add (photo, bio, username)
• Posts, comments, and messages you share in the community feed
• Your location (only when using the Church Finder feature — never in background)
• App usage data to improve the experience (anonymized)
• Device information for crash reporting and performance monitoring

We do not collect financial information, government IDs, or any sensitive personal data beyond what is listed above.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data only to:

• Create and manage your Koinos account
• Power community features like the feed, messaging, and friend requests
• Show churches near you when you use the Church Finder
• Deliver your daily verse and app notifications (if enabled)
• Improve app stability and fix bugs
• Respond to your support requests

We will never use your data to serve you ads, build advertising profiles, or sell to third parties. Full stop.

4. Firebase & Third-Party Services

Koinos is built on Google Firebase, which handles authentication, database storage, and file storage. Firebase has its own privacy and security practices. We also use:

• API.Bible — for Bible content delivery (no personal data shared)
• Google Maps / Places API — for church discovery (location used in-session only)
• just_audio — local audio playback (no data collection)

These services are used solely to power core app features and are bound by their own privacy policies.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely in Firebase Firestore with Firestore Security Rules that ensure users can only access data they're authorized to see. We use Firebase Authentication for secure login and never store raw passwords.

While no system is 100% immune to breaches, we implement industry-standard practices to keep your information safe.

6. Your Rights

You are always in control of your data. You have the right to:

• Access all data we hold about you
• Correct or update your profile information at any time
• Delete your account and all associated data permanently
• Opt out of non-essential notifications
• Request a copy of your data in portable format

7. Children's Privacy

Koinos is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app grows. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page and notify users through the app for significant changes. Continued use of Koinos after changes means you accept the updated policy.
